Three Chansons Arranged for Brass Quintet

Claude Debussy/arr. Fuchou Chiang

$19.95

Originally for a capella voices, Claude Debussy's 3 Chansons were composed between 1898 and 1908. Based on poems by the French Medieval poet and nobleman Charles, Duke of Orleans these works contain rich modal harmonies and expressive melodies in addition to showcasing the composer's contrapuntal skills.

In arranging these works for brass quintet, the arranger has, in place of a more literal transcription attempted to obtain more textural and timbral variety and musically convey some of the moods of the text by altering and reassigning parts and voicing, using mutes and horn stops, and giving each instrument a more equal level of prominence by redistributing some melodic materials throughout the parts.

Solo parts included: Trumpet 1 in C, Trumpet 2 in C, Horn in F, Trombone, Bass Trombone or Tuba
