Anthony Plog writes: "The Nocturne for trumpet and strings (1994), and the later versions for trumpet and organ (2003), or trumpet and piano (2010) is one of a series of Nocturnes written for the different brass instruments (horn, trombone, and tuba). It is a reflective and brooding sort of piece, at times dark and dramatic, and at other times positive and almost spiritual."
